The cost of our sealed local road reconstruction includes all types of road materials including asphalt, concrete and bluestone. In addition we include any stormwater drainage costs incurred while undertaking road reconstruction. This year a higher proportion of roads were reconstructed with less bluestone paver resets required compared to that in 2016/17. The result achieved our target of less than $160.00

Port Phillip City Council Says...

We only use asphalt for its resurface material because it is more resilient, while other councils may use a mix of asphalt and spray seal. This leads to a higher cost. The rise in cost is the result of specific pavement design that uses an increased depth of asphalt, which has a higher cost per square metre. The result failed to meet target of less than $50.00.
